About BAOBIZZ
BAOBIZZ is an independent space of analysis, reflection, transmission and experimentation dedicated to the great economic, social, technological and geopolitical transformations of our time, with particular attention to Africa and its future.
BAOBIZZ was born of a simple conviction: Africa must not only be an object of analysis of the world. It must also become one of the places from which the world is thought.
Major contemporary changes — digital revolution, artificial intelligence, labour transformations, demography, urbanization, climate, debt, sovereignty, democracy, globalization or new geopolitical rivalries — are directly relevant to African societies.
However, these issues are still too often addressed through reading grids developed elsewhere. BAOBIZZ intends to help broaden this perspective: look at Africa from the world, but also look at the world from Africa.
Our ambition
BAOBIZZ seeks to make complex issues accessible without oversimplification. The aim is not to impose certainties, but to provide the reader with elements to understand, compare, question and build his own judgment.
This approach is based on the intersection of economics, finance, history, sociology, philosophy, law, management, technology, international relations and political science.
Understanding the present often requires looking at it, going back into history and accepting complexity rather than looking for comfortable explanations.
BAOBIZZ thus favours substantive analysis, historical perspective, confrontation of arguments and illustration by concrete situations.

An African Perspective Open to the World
BAOBIZZ is not a space dedicated exclusively to Africa. Its ambition is broader: to examine the transformations of the world by giving African societies their full place in reflection.
L’Afrique connaît simultanément une croissance démographique exceptionnelle, une urbanisation rapide, une révolution numérique, une transformation de ses aspirations sociales et une redéfinition de ses rapports avec le reste du monde. Ces mutations constituent autant de défis que d’opportunités.
Les expériences européennes, américaines, asiatiques ou latino-américaines peuvent éclairer certains problèmes africains. Inversement, les trajectoires africaines peuvent contribuer à renouveler la compréhension de phénomènes universels : solidarité, développement, rapport à l’État, urbanisation, jeunesse, technologie, environnement, identité ou démocratie.
Penser l’Afrique ne consiste pas à l’isoler du monde. Il s’agit au contraire de lui restituer toute sa place dans la conversation mondiale.
À l’origine de BAOBIZZ
BAOBIZZ a été fondé par Mustapha Dieng, expert-comptable diplômé et commissaire aux comptes, enseignant et entrepreneur dans le domaine des technologies et des systèmes d’information.
Son parcours professionnel et académique l’a conduit à travailler sur des problématiques situées au croisement de l’entreprise, de la finance, du contrôle, de la technologie, de la formation et du développement économique.
BAOBIZZ prolonge cette démarche dans un espace plus large : celui de la réflexion sur les transformations des sociétés, sur les trajectoires africaines et sur les grands enjeux contemporains.
Une méthode : comprendre avant de conclure
Les sujets abordés sur BAOBIZZ peuvent être complexes, sensibles ou controversés. Ils méritent davantage qu’une succession d’opinions rapides.
La démarche éditoriale cherche donc, autant que possible, à distinguer les faits établis, les données disponibles, les interprétations, les hypothèses et les opinions. Les analyses s’appuient sur des sources documentaires et cherchent à confronter les arguments lorsqu’un débat sérieux existe.
